The Internet Crime Complain Center receives more cyber scam complaints from California than any other state in the nation, according to a recently released report, and some of the most popular scams are making the rounds locally.

In a recent case, a trio of high-end bicycle thieves used Craigslist to gather personal information about people selling bikes worth more than $5,000. They managed to figure out where the victims lived and then went to their homes to steal the expensive bicycles.

Victorville man resident Jason Conley fell prey to the thieves and had nearly $33,000 in bikes and a wheel kit stolen from his home, officials said.

“I will be doing things a lot differently whenever I sell my bikes now,” Conley said in a recent interview.
